Royal quarries already exploited under Louis XIV, sign of elegance and prestige, material of the kings by excellence, representing what France produces of the most beautiful: a breccia of luxuriant colors used before for palaces, churches and other monuments.
Geographical situation centralized at an altitude of 1000 m, on the municipality of Ilhet in the High- Pyreneans, at 20 km to Lannemezan.
This marble has been used for the chimneys of Versailles, and a part of the Galerie des Glaces of the castle; it also has been used for the forty columns and the principal staircase of the Opera Garnier in Paris.
The quarry of Sarrancolin is empty since the end of the 19th century.
