ALLEGORY OF SPRING BY MATHURIN MOREAU

A rare and important brown patina bronze sculpture depicting Flora, the goddess of flowers, gardens, spring and fertility in Roman mythology. Dressed in a light dress, she is holding a basket of flowers in her left hand. A butterfly rests on the index finger of her right hand. This composition symbolises the Allegory of Spring.
The sculpture rests on a large fluted natural wood column.
French work circa 1890.
