Formal chandelier by françois linke

Linke Francois

Baccarat Manufacture

Exceptional and magnificent large chandelier with thirty-two sconces on three tiers, in finely engraved and gilded bronze, embellished with cut crystals.
The central part is supported by a ceiling lamp decorated with foliage, which is delicately bound together and descends from a twisted and adorned fluted baluster with four seated tritons, playing the horn. From the central trunk emerges a first tier with eight arms of light and a second tier with an additional eight arms of light attached thus spread onto two other arms of light. This rich and imposing gilt bronze frame is adorned with a very beautiful cut crystal ornamentation from Maison Baccarat.
Bobeches with gadroons and pearls. The lower part is finished with a bunch of foliage surmounting a bunch of grapes.

French work from the beginning of the XX century around 1900.

Signed in engraving on bronze F. LINKE.

This chandelier was bought in the Linke Place Vendôme shop in Paris around 1900-1905.
François Linke became famous for Maison Parisienne from the late XIX century.
This chandelier is a variant of the original model produced by Pierre Gouthière, King Louis XVI’s bronze caster for the salon of Queen Marie-Antoinette at the Palace of Versailles.
