Magnificent Louis XV style living room set after Heurtaut Nicolas
Heurtaut Nicolas
Outstanding Louis XV style living room set with four large armchairs and a two-seater sofa. Model known as the Queen with large armrests with covers, high backrests in gilded wood; carved on the front with winged rococo motifs, pomegranates and acanthus leaves. A beautiful rose is engraved in the middle of the chair’s apron. Exquisite mouldings and engravings on the back replicating the motifs on the front. Rests on four arched and ribbed foliage feet with scrolled ends.
The backrests are adorned with rare asymmetrical motifs in the shape of bird wings inspired by the ornamental designer, Nicolas Pineau (1684-1754). This model can be compared to the work of Nicolas Heurtaut (1720-1771), a master wood carver and armchair furniture designer for Louis XV.
French work from the first half of the 19th century, around 1840-1850.
