Pendulum clock Hercules and Deianira by BEURDELEY ALFRED-EMMANUEL

BEURDELEY Alfred-Emmanuel

Exquisite pendulum clock in griotte marble adorned with a finely engraved and gilded bronze trim in Louis XVI style. Base with four feet and a rounded facade embellished with a garland of flowers. The double-sided facade is decorated with scroll patterns and cornucopias, which frame the white enamelled circular clockface with Roman numerals in the centre. The clock is flanked by two gilt-bronze figures – an effigy of Hercules and his wife Deianira. All is complemented by an antique vase perched on top.

French work around 1870-1880. Period of Napoleon III.

Signed under B.Y (House Beurdeley).
