Pendulum clock in Louis XVI style
Impressive pendulum clock with an engraved and gilded bronze caged frame in Louis XVI style. The body is emphasized by a frieze made up of laurel wreathes, framing the white enamelled circular clockface in the centre, flanked by two large coils with curling acanthus leaves. The clock is crowned by an urn with a flame and cornucopia handles as well as free-hanging twisted laurels. Six feet with decorated tops supporting a red Griotte marble base bordered with a frieze of spiralling foliage.
French work circa 1870-1880. Period of Napoleon III.
