Inkwell with Rooster

Exceptional office inkwell in red Egyptian Porphyre and finely engraved and gilded bronze. In the centre is a French rooster posed with its wings spread, and on each side small pots with lids decorated with three scorpion fish. Base in fretwork with interlacing patterns and gold foliage and rests on eight small toupie feet.
French work in Louis XVI style around 1850.
