Pair of large and finely engraved and silvered bronze candelabra.
Triangular tripod base, with openwork legs, representing three griffins supporting an entablature flanked by three windings and connected by hanging garlands with fruit decoration. Acanthus leaves twist around the bottom of the fluted shaft. Overhung by a Corinthian capital, mounted by six light branches surrounding cartouches of lion’s heads and brackets with patterns of acanthus leaves, bobeches and drip pans. Finished with a flaming urn its middle.
French work attributed to Thomire.
Bourbon restoration period around 1820.
